English: The 38 MW, Leathers Geothermal Plant, came on line in 1990 It is located at 342 W Sinclair Road, Calipatria, CA, near the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Widelife Refuge. The Salton Sea area has an unusally high level of geothermal activity as evidenced by fields of volcano-like mud pots. This plant is one of 10 geothermal generating plants owned by Calenergy in the Imperial Valley of Calfornia. |
