Further Greek colonization in Anatolia was led by Miletus and Megara in 750–480 BC; cities such as Byzantion were settled.[1] Greeks mixed with native Anatolians and city-states developed.[2]

Cyrus attacked eastern Anatolia in 547 BC, and Achaemenid Empire eventually expanded into western Anatolia.[3] In the east, Armenian province was part of the Achaemenid Empire.[4]
Following Greco-Persian Wars, Anatolian Aegean coast regained independence, but most of the interior stayed part of Achaemenid Empire.[5]
Following victories of Alexander in 334 BC and 333 BC, Achaemenid Empire collapsed.[6]
Following Alexander’s death, Seleucids ruled large parts of Anatolia, while native Anatolian states emerged in Marmara and Black Sea area. In eastern Anatolia, the kingdom of Armenia appeared. Greek cities along the Aegean prospered with trade based on a slave economy, and saw remarkable scientific and scholarly accomplishments.[7]
