I'm Thebiguglyalien (he/him), but I also answer to TBUA, BUA, and Alien. I'm a lifelong resident of Arizona, and I have a bachelor's degree in political science. I created my account in 2015, my first edit was in 2017, and I became a regular contributor in February 2022.
Most of my contributions involve content writing, often overhauling unloved articles to get them to good article status. I also engage in review work from time to time. You might see me around Women in Green, Good Article Nominations, or any one of the brief interests I pursue before moving on to something else.
I edit in several areas, but my main focuses are history and political science. I also edit extensively about Botswana, because I believe systemic bias is best fought with deep coverage rather than wide but shallow coverage. If you are reading this, I challenge you to pick an underrepresented country and write everything you can about it.
I do GAN reviews on request, but only if it's about a country where I've never done a review before (see the last column in my articles per country) and if your review/nomination ratio is greater than one.
Any allegations that I'm an alien from Mars bent on intergalactic conquest are entirely baseless and unfounded.

- Anti-cabal – The project only works if the same rules are followed throughout. Cliques and closed spaces are functionally equivalent to cabals, whether it be in project space or a topic area.
- Communityist – A toxic community is an existential threat. Conversely, being kind and helpful to competent new users is invaluable.
- Exclusionist – Trivial information and poor quality additions can distract from the most important information in an article. Oftentimes, it is better to scrap weak content and rebuild from the ground up than to try and polish a turd.
- Mergist – Better to have information together than separate, and shallow coverage of many topics can be better covered in one place. Splits should be reserved for obvious differences in scope or articles that have become unmanageably long.
- Wikidemocrat – The community is paramount. While admins and other editors should exercise discretion when necessary, it should only be done if they believe the community would support it.
- Wikifederalist – So long as the community is functioning, the WMF has no jurisdiction over the English Wikipedia except to prevent damage to other projects and to comply with U.S. law.
- Wikipedian – Call me naïve, but I believe that despite its problems, Wikipedia is always improving and that the cause is a noble one.
- WikiPuma – A WikiPuma engages in massive article expansions and rewrites with occasional participation in cleanup efforts. Solitary and territorial but fears fire. Enjoys giving and receiving recognition. Liable to overwork itself.
