Arms: Lion of Limburg. The cadet branch of the Dukes of Limburg, known as "Luxemburg" (w:Henry V of Luxembourg (d.1281), the first w:Count of Luxembourg, a younger son of w:Waleran III of Limburg, w:Duke of Limburg) substituted a field barry of argent and azure to difference his arms from his elder half-brother Henry IV, Duke of Limburg (see Category:Lion of Luxemburg in heraldry). With the extinction of the senior line (w:Waleran IV, Duke of Limburg (d.1279)) w:Peter I, Count of Saint-Pol (1390-1433), Count of Brienne (a 6th generation descendant of Henry V, Count of Luxembourg), assumed the original Limburg arms.
