Summary
DescriptionSearch and Rescue Exercise 130909-N-HA927-015.jpg |
English: A Chinese variant Harbin Z-9 flies around the Chinese People's Liberation Army-Navy [PLA(N)] destroyer Qingdao (DDG 113) during a search and rescue exercise (SAREX) off the coast of Hawaii. The SAREX and this past weekend's port visit by three [PLA(N)] ships at Pearl Harbor is part of the U.S. Navy's ongoing effort to maximize opportunities for developing relationships with foreign navies as a tool to build trust, encourage multilateral cooperation, enhance transparency, and avoid miscalculation in the Pacific.
