Summary
DescriptionWat Pa Phai monastery reliefs2009.jpg |
English: The gilded and carved wooden façade of Wat Pa Phai monastery in Luang Prabang, Laos is more than 100 years old and is a classic Thai-Lao fresco. The name Wat Pa Phai means “Monastery of the Bamboo Forest.” Various records assign different dates to this monastery: the French historian Henri Parmentier, thought that Wat Pa Phai was built in 1645. However, the Luang Prabang historian Chao Khaminanh Vongkot Rattana, placed its construction date much later, at 1815. |
