The Albums Chart is a weekly record chart based on album sales from Sunday to Saturday; during the 1990s, a total of 63 albums reached number one. The most successful artist of the 1990s was American entertainer Cher, who topped the Albums Chart for 60 weeks with six different albums. Titanic: Music from the Motion Picture, the soundtrack of the movie Titanic, was the biggest-selling album of 1998; it was also the biggest-selling album of the decade. The first number-one album of the 1990s was ...But Seriously by English musician Phil Collins – released in 1989, it first reached number one in December, and remained at the top for eight consecutive weeks. The final number one of the 1990s was the compilation album The Greatest Hits (1999) by Cher.
