Since 1990, the National Cultural Heritage Administration, an affiliate agency of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, has released a yearly listing of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China. The listing was described by the South China Morning Post as Chinese archaeological community's main award ceremony and the "Oscars of archaeology".[1]
