Carrier Strike Group Nine, abbreviated CSG-9 or CARSTRKGRU 9, is one of five U.S. Navy carrier strike groups currently assigned to the U.S. Pacific Fleet. U.S. Navy carrier strike groups are employed in a variety of roles, all of which involve gaining and maintaining sea control.[7] The Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) is the group's current flagship.
