On May 15, 1961, Prime Minister Józef Cyrankiewicz submitted the resignation of his government, which was accepted by the 3rd Sejm of the Polish People's Republic. On the same day, the Sejm reappointed Józef Cyrankiewicz as Prime Minister and entrusted him with forming the government. On May 18, 1961, the Sejm appointed the government in the proposed composition. It consisted of 33 members: the prime minister, 5 deputy prime ministers, 23 ministers, and 4 chairmen of committees and commissions. One position remained vacant. The government existed until June 25, 1965, when the Fourth government of Józef Cyrankiewicz was appointed.
