The 2022 Kharkiv counteroffensive[lower-alpha 1] was a major counteroffensive operation during the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began on 6 September 2022.[17] Following the launch of the Kherson counteroffensive in southern Ukraine in late August, Ukrainian forces began a second counteroffensive in early September in Kharkiv Oblast, in Eastern Ukraine.[18]
