The Asterozoa are a subphylum in the phylum Echinodermata. Characteristics include a star-shaped body and radially divergent axes of symmetry. The subphylum includes the class Asteroidea (the starfish), the class Ophiuroidea (the brittle stars and basket stars), and the extinct order Somasteroidea.
