Cirkus is the fifth installment of Golmaal franchise, a spin-off to 2017 film Golmaal Again and remake of the 1982 Hindi film Angoor which itself was based on William Shakespeare's play The Comedy of Errors.[13][14] Principal photography for the film began in November 2020 at Mumbai and also took place in Ooty.[15]
Cirkus was released theatrically on 23 December 2022.[16] The film was panned by critics and underperformed at box office.[17]
