Summary
DescriptionJewellery of Khenmet- 12th Dynasty.jpg | A necklace of Princess Khenmet or Khnumit—called "the king's daughter" in her royal titles--a daughter of presumably pharaoh Amenemhat II of the 12th dynasty Middle Kingdom era of Egypt. Amenemhat II ruled during the 19th century BCE over Egypt. Princess Khenmet/Khnumit was buried in Amenemhat II’s pyramid complex and, considering the 35 year reign of this king, it is believed that she must have been this king's daughter. The sarcophagus, mummy and funerary equipment of this princess was found intact near the pyramid of her father at Dahshur by Jacques de Morgan in 1894. This object's catalogue number is JE 31113 and it is today located in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. |
