Mohammed Yaqub (? – 27 December 1979) was a lieutenant colonel in the Afghan Army, the Chief of General Staff of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan from 1 April 1979, until his death during the Tajbeg Palace assault on 27 December 1979,[1] and a “first-class” paratrooper of the 444th Commando Battalion.
