Welch has released seven albums to date, and is a former member of Sugar Ray & the Bluetones.

Welch has performed and recorded with Duke Robillard, Nick Moss, Johnny Winter, Darrell Nulisch and the Knickerbocker All-Stars, which featured among others, Jimmie Vaughan.
