He was appointed to this position by Yoweri Museveni, the president of the Republic of Uganda.[3][2] This appointment drew immense criticism from the Democratic Party, an opposition party he is currently serving as president.[2] It was seen as a move by President Museveni to tame the Party and clip its wings to criticize his government.
