Qohestan District (Persian: بخش قهستان) is in Darmian County, South Khorasan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Qohestan.[3]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 15,295 in 4,349 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 15,486 people in 4,380 households.[5] At the latest census in 2016, the district had 14,295 inhabitants in 4,326 households.[2]
After the 2016 census, Fakhrud Rural District was separated from the district, and Miyandasht Rural District from the Central District in the establishment of Miyandasht District. In addition, Nughab Rural District was established in the Central District, and Kushkak Rural District in Qohestan District.[6]
