Sursky District

Sursky District (Russian: Су́рский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the twenty-one in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,688 square kilometers (652 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Surskoye.[1] Population: 19,430 (2010 Census);[3] 22,644 (2002 Census);[8] 25,932 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Surskoye accounts for 35.3% of the district's total population.[3]
